GEO5 by Fine Software, SketchUp by Trimble, and the Easyblock Configurator support the design of modular retaining walls — from rapid preliminary planning through free-form 3D modeling to code-compliant structural analysis. This allows projects to be reviewed early on, developed with precision, and safely refined.
GEO5 by Fine Software
Fine Software and Easy Block have integrated their systems to support fast, intuitive and safe structural design of modular retaining walls. The primary software tool for this task is GEO5 Prefab Wall.

Key Features & Easy Block Integration:
- Complete Block Catalog The official Easy Block catalog, including all block types and dimensions, is fully integrated directly into the software. Users do not need to input any manual dimensions.
- Simple 3D Modeling The program allows users to easily and intuitively design the entire 3D wall structure.
- Comprehensive Cross-Section Analysis Engineers can analyze individual cross-sections for standard verifications, including overturning, slip, and the verification of shear joints between individual blocks.
- Design Flexibility The software supports both standard gravity walls and mechanically stabilized earth walls. A comprehensive catalog of various geosynthetic reinforcement types is built right into the program.
- Global Standards All designs and verifications can be performed according to major global codes and design approaches, including Eurocode EN 1997, American LRFD, Swiss SIA 267, or standard Safety Factors / Limit States.
Connected GEO5 Modules
- Slope Stability To analyze the overall stability of the slope and wall, all geometry and soil data can be transferred automatically with a single click into the GEO5 Slope Stability module.
- Spread Footing In the exact same way, the bearing capacity of the foundation soil beneath the wall can be verified by automatically exporting forces and geometry into the GEO5 Spread Footing module.
- Drawing Editor For preparing professional project documentation, drawings from GEO5 Prefab Wall and other GEO5 programs can be created and edited in GEO5 Drawing Editor. Everything is kept in one place, without switching between different tools, saving time when preparing drawings and reports while maintaining a consistent and professional appearance across all GEO5 outputs.
This end-to-end data integration enables efficient and code-compliant design of Easy Block retaining walls within the GEO5 software environment.
Trimble SketchUp
For projects that go beyond the scope of standardized planning, SketchUp provides a flexible environment for the free modelling and visualization of Easyblock retaining walls.
Easyblock provides the corresponding DWG files and block libraries, enabling retaining walls to be planned individually, visualized and integrated into existing project documentation.
Key Features & Easy Block Integration:
- Planning without limitations
While the Easyblock Online Configurator is designed for standard structural design applications and standardized wall configurations, SketchUp enables the free planning of complex and project-specific solutions. Special geometries, multi-level retaining wall systems, multiple interconnected walls and custom angles can be developed and visualized directly within the model. Planning is carried out independently of predefined configurations and provides maximum flexibility for the development of individual projects. - Integration into existing projects
Existing site plans, layouts and project data can be incorporated directly into the planning process. This allows Easyblock retaining walls to be integrated into existing designs, approval documents and project concepts. As a result, realistic project visualizations can be created at an early stage of the planning process.. - 3D modelling and visualization
SketchUp enables Easyblock retaining walls to be modelled in three dimensions and viewed from different perspectives. In addition to technical planning, the software is well suited for creating presentations, visualizations and project documentation for clients, planners and project stakeholders. - Material quantification
In addition to graphical planning, the Easyblock components used within the model can be evaluated and used for further project development. This provides a reliable basis for material quantification, cost estimation and project preparation.
Applications
SketchUp is particularly suitable for:
- Complex wall geometries
- Multi-level retaining wall systems

Easyblock Konfigurator
Easyblock offers its own configuration software for manufacturers, which allows them to quickly calculate block types and wall structures based on a small amount of input data. The software is designed to work with Easyblock’s standardized calculation tables. See also the technical manual.
Key Features:
- Block structure The wall structure is defined based on the required wall dimensions.
- Simple 2D modeling The program enables simple and intuitive planning of the entire 2D wall structure.
- Cross-section analysis Based on the entered wall parameters, individual cross-sections for standard wall types are calculated for each wall section. These calculations are based on the tables in the technical manual.
- Flexible design The software supports both traditional gravity walls and reinforced earth structures with geogrids. Corners and curves can also be taken into account.
- International standards Design and verification are performed in accordance with the applicable Eurocode requirements, in particular EN 1997 and Eurocode 7.
Note:
Retaining walls should always be designed by a qualified professional designer or structural engineer. The configurator generates a preliminary wall design based on defined standard parameters.
For professional engineering calculations, we recommend the GEO5 software from Fine. This seamless data integration enables efficient and code-compliant design of Easy Block retaining walls within the GEO5 software environment.
